Our 26th annual Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame Induction was a Doozy: Dick and J. D. Yates, the Kittitas County Junior Sheriff’s Posse, and the saddle bronc Spring Planting all joined the Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame on August 27, 2022, at the Spirit Therapeutic Riding Center. The Kittitas County Cattlewomen prepared a delicious roast beef feast, followed by the induction and our tenth and final ‘Artists of Fame’ art auction. As we approach the 2023 Ellensburg Rodeo’s Centennial, ERHOF aims to again hold a historic and memorable induction .

Centennial Projects: Thanks to attendees’ generosity during the “Raise the Paddle” portion of our 2022 induction banquet, we now have funds to complete some special Centennial-year projects. ERHOF has replaced and updated the old Arena Records sign at the rodeo grounds, and other Centennial projects include updating John Ludkta’s history of the Ellensburg Rodeo (co-sponsored by the rodeo board and titled Ellensburg Rodeo’s First 100 Years: The Tradition Lives),  presenting monthly oral history rodeo ‘storytelling’ programs’ at our museum, sponsoring saddle maker Janneman Pienaar in building a replica early 20th century Farrell ‘Ellensburg Tree’ saddle, and a very special 2023 Centennial induction banquet.  Stay tuned for more Ellensburg Rodeo Centennial news!

New Museum Displays: ERHOF rotates our museum exhibits every four months and we have some surprises for you. There is a new display on 2022 Inductees Dick and J. D. Yates, the Kittitas County Jr. Sheriff’s Posse, and Spring Planting. We have also re-arranged the museum and changed out the roughstock and auction art sections. In January, ERHOF curator John Brotherton will create the first of a series of “Ellensburg Rodeo at 100 Years” displays that will rotate at our museum and around town over the Centennial year. The Hall of Fame Museum, 416 N. Pearl, is open Tuesday-Friday 11 am-5 pm & Saturday 11 am-3 pm.

Thanks you Dr. Ken MacRae for seventeen years of service as a member of the Ellensburg Rodeo Hall of Fame board! Ken’s expertise as chairman of the induction committee led to a number of memorable inductions of rodeo superstars, contract personnel, and important community volunteers. The board is very grateful to Ken. Meanwhile, our newest board member Dianna Haberman brings a great experience in administration, grant writing, event-planning, and community involvement along with a love of the Ellensburg Rodeo.
